Welcome to BassExpert!

Here are some terms we've used in BASS EXPERT and what we think they mean.

  • Timber: A type of structure defined as flooded tree stumps, logs or bushes. Known in some places as stickups.
  • Twitch Bait: See Minnow Lure.
  • Underwater Point: A type of structure defined as narrow extentions of land into the water.
  • Vegetation: A type of cover defined as underwater weeds not reaching the surface.
  • Vibrating Lure: A plastic or metal lure that produces intense vibration when retrieved. Examples are the Sonar, Gay Blade, Silver Buddy, and Silver Lucky. Lipless crankbaits that rattle, like the Rat-L-Trap and others are included in this category and the crankbait category.
  • Wall: A type of structure defined as seawalls, concrete pilings, or rock bluffs.
  • Wobbler: A floating lure with a scoop on the front that makes it wobble and gurgle as it is retrieved. The best example is the trusty Jitterbug.
