Welcome to BassExpert!
Here are some terms we've used in BASS EXPERT and what we think they mean.
- Plastic Frog: A plastic imitation of a frog, usually weedless. Examples
include Bill Plummer's Super Frog and the Snag Proof Frog.
- Plastic Lizard: A plastic imitation of a lizard or salamander. Some samples
are Rebel's Ring Lizard, Creme's Spoiler Lizard, the Stembridge Fliptail
Lizard, and Mister Twister's Super Liz.
- Popper: See Chugger.
- Propbait: Propbaits are so named because they have one or two propellers
that boil the water's surface when they are moved. They include the A.C.
Shiner, Tiny Torpedo, Smithwick's Devil's Horse, Bomber Rip Shad, Bomber
Spin Stick, Ozark Mountain Woodchopper, Mouldy's Musky Prop Lure, Poe's
Ace-In-The-Hole, Hubs Chub Rattalure, Spence Prop Scout, Bagley's Pop'n
B2, Creek Chub Injured Minnow, Griffin Bass Baffler and others.
- Rat: A soft plastic imitation of a small rat, usually skimmed across the
tops of really thick cover. Examples are the Snag Proof Moss Mouse and Mann's
The Rat. For lack of a better place, Bill Norman's Weed Walker could be
included in this category.
- Riprap: A type of structure defined as shoreline rocks extending underwater,
possibly from a nearby roadbed or old mining site.
- Salamander: Also known as spring lizard or waterdog, this creature is
an amphibian, related to frogs and toads, with a tail.
