Welcome to BassExpert!
Here are some terms we've used in BASS EXPERT and what we think they mean.
- Crawfish: A freshwater crustacean that bass relish. They are so effective
they are illegal to use in some lakes.
- Dropoff: A type of cover defined as a sharp break in depth; a ledge.
- Excellent Fishing Times: Times determined from the positions of the sun
and the moon, when many have noted particularly good success in catching
fish.
- Flats: Areas with a level bottom.
- Flipping: A fishing technique for presenting the bait quietly and accurately
in heavy cover. A computer program can't do everything. Get someone to show
you how.
- Floating rig: A method of hooking and using a plastic worm. Please refer
to chapter 6c. Using the Advice for details.
- Flowing Water: A type of cover defined as moving water; current.
- Frog: One of those green jumping things. For more of a challenge, use
the plastic version.
- Good Fishing Times: Not as good as Excellent Fishing Times, but a good
bet, if you can pick your fishing times.
- Grub: A lead-headed bait with a single hook and a soft plastic body attached
to the hook. This category includes tube jigs like the Gitzit.
- Heavy Cover: A type of cover defined as really thick surface cover too
thick to see through.
